Dennie Wilson has been in touch to tell us about Contract 8 – a dance project looking for artists to help work on mass participation projects to perform at the opening ceremony of the European Artic Gymnastic Championships and potentially other sports events held at Birmingham’s NIA in 2010.
Directed by Dennie Wilson (dna3d, University of Wolverhampton & Elmhurst School for Dance) in partnership with British Gymnastics and Birmingham City Council, Contract 8 is looking to develop a creative team of approximately 24 dance artists/choreographers to produce this project, and a youth dance company made of of 304 youth dancers from across the West Midlands
There will be further opportunities to develop work linked to the Wheelchair Basketball World Championships, also held at the NIA in July – 2010.
There is a timetable and the basis of a plan, but we also want the process of establishing the Contract 8 to be an evolving one, so at this stage in the development, we want to hear from people who are interested in hearing more about taking part in the project.
To find out more about this project and taking part visit www.dna3d.co.uk and click on the dna3d events page and follow the link to the Contract 8 page. You need to register your interest by Friday 11 December 2009.
It is also interesting to find out dna3d, in partnership with British Gymnastics (BG), Great Britain Wheelchair Basketball Association (GBWBA) and Birmingham City Council has put in for People Dancing Award.
