As the much-anticipated industry dance festival British Dance Edition comes back next year, a new feature called Brisitsh Dance Edition Research Project (BDERP) allowing dance artists to pitch research ideas to a panel will also be on the programme.
This isn’t one for the faint-hearted. You need to be able to get up there and pitch your practical choreographic research project at the event on 5 February 2010.
The Producing Partnership which allowed this event to happen pools of funding and resources from a number of dance organisations across the UK – and the aim is to allow research and a positive impact to occur on a number of identified areas which have been deemed ‘in need’ in the national dance sector. Your pitch must focus on one of these, and one project will be chosen and funded for each, but you can submit a number of ideas:
- Live-arts based work from artists in mid to late career
- Multi-disciplinary dance work
- The creation of dance work that is transferable between different formats (e.g. different scales, theatre and non-theatre environments, professional / non-professional casts)
- Work for children and families
If you fancy taking on the panel, you’ll need to submit a written proposal before you get on stage. This written pitch must be sent by 5 January 2010 to Eckhard Thiemann, 97 Bethwin Road, London SE5 0YR or eckhard@eckhardthiemann.com. For more information see the document below.
