Jobs on Monday: Belly dance artist for People Dancing

by hrwaldram on November 9, 2009

Another exciting project to come out of the People Dancing programme.

This time it’s the commissioned project form Stoke-on-Trent City Council – ‘World of Dance’ and a Belly/Arabic dance artist is now being hunted down to deliver four workshops in the area.

Four workshops, two-hours long each, will be devised as taster sessions in a number of community settings across the city. The council hope 25 attendees will come to each workshop, and 30 ‘shimmy-belts’ will be provided. The aim is for the dance artist to introduce people to the belly dance style – whether that be traditional, tribal, modern and form a number of arabic regions.

A number of things are required for you to apply – including a short letter detailing your experience and qualifications. The deadline for applications is Tuesday 24 November. All applications should be submitted to Vanessa Darlington, Stoke-on-Trent Olympic Co-ordinator, Chief Executive’s Directorate, Civic Centre, Glebe Street, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 1RN, email vanessa.darlington@stoke.gov.uk or phone 01782 236156. People Dancing is part of the West Midlands Culture Programme for London 2012. It is a three year programme that uses the inspiration of the London 2012 Games to get as many people as possible dancing across the West Midlands.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council secured funding from the West Midlands People Dancing programme, funded by the Legacy Trust UK, Arts Council England West Midlands and Advantage West Midlands to deliver dance workshops in the city.
