Here’s our weekly round-up of dance news across the UK:

  • Cat Deeley has been snapped up to present the British version of the hit US dance reality programme So You Think You Can Dance in January - Press Association
  • The first UK streetdance movie is in the making – due to be released next year and featuring dance group Diversity – BBC News
  • Strictly Come Dancing‘s Anton Du Beke suffered a tirade of criticism this week following a remark he made during rehearsals – later in the week the show’s ancient presenter Bruce Forsyth stepped in to defend the comments made by Du Beke, who looks so uncannily similar to Brucey, at the beginning of the series he called him his ‘love child’ – The Guardian
  • London’s annual festival of contemporary dance opened this week with Wind Shadow from Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan at the Barbican – but it was deemed too slow and, although beautiful, not exactly a good night’s entertainment – The Times
  • Scottish Ballet’s 40th Anniversary tour kicked off in London to critical acclaim. Dancing Balachine’s Rubies at Sadlers Wells, the Scottish troupe were deemed “staggeringly beautiful” - The Daily Telegraph
