It’s just been announced that Foot in Hand will be performing at DanceXchange on Friday 16 October. They’ll be doing two pieces, as I understand it:
A State of Becoming
a semi-finalist in The Place Prize 2006, lays bare the turmoil faced by humankind eternally caught between hope and despair to a compelling score by composer Scott Johnson. Featuring voice samples and a string quartet, it echoes the struggle on stage as the dancers navigate the tensions of our ever-shrinking world, occasionally colliding with elusive moments of tenderness
One Night Only
inspired by Camille Saint-Saëns’ classical music suite Carnival of the Animals, combines vibrant visuals and gentle humour as FOOT IN HAND’s integrated cast of nine professional disabled and non-disabled dancers expose the emotional landscape hidden beneath the deeply shallow surface of a modern nightclub.
Tickets are £7.50, call the box office on 0844 338 5000.
Foot in Hand will also be in residency at DanceXchange from 12 October running education work with a group of disabled young people, some of whom will feature in the performance on the 16th.
