Birmingham Royal Ballet: “We have a lot of rubber noses.”

Birmingham Royal Ballet – Cyrano’s Nose from Rob Lindsay on Vimeo.

In this film, Birmingham Royal Ballet Director David Bintley talks about the Company’s forthcoming production of Cyrano, which David choreographed himself, and the issues surrounding the lead character’s prosthetic nose…

It’s a robust nose.  It’s not completely solid, so like any nose it will kind of blow with the wind or bend with your partner and it hasn’t come off yet.  We stick it on well.  We have some very strong glue.

The film includes excerpts from the ballet, with score by Carl Davis. Featuring Robert Parker as Cyrano, and Elisha Willis as Roxane.

Cyrano is touring this autumn, premiering at the Birmingham Hippodrome on 30th September 2009.
