Blue Eyed Soul Dance Company are mid-way through Sepia, their ‘small festival of dance’ in Shewsbury. You can view their exhibition of project and archive photographs and words mapping the making of Sepia in the Chapel Bar, Theatre Severn, until 12th September, when it is due to tour the rest of the region.
The festival, which has included performances and workshops with disabled and non-disabled participants, culminates with ‘TAKE; a dance in the park’ at Quarry Park, Shewsbury on the afternoon of Saturday 4th July. Directed by Blue Eyed Soul’s Artistic Director Rachel Freeman, it promises to be quite the spectacle:
Three dancers disabled and non-disabled tug, twist and turn through fact and fiction of the past in an aerial dance performance of daring delight. ‘TAKE; a dance in the park’ celebrates a rich and colourful history of live outdoor performance from 1809 to 2009, trapeze artists to street performers, woollen tweed to lycra…
Keep up with the festival action at the Sepia blog.
