This week is the last week of Stan’s Cafe’s Spy Steps, ‘the big flash younger brother of Dance Steps‘, at the Warwick Arts Centre. Artistic Director James Yarker’s blog posts are well worth a read – charting the progress of the site-specific project, which uses coloured vinyl teach-yourself-to-dance footsteps to transform the University of Warwick’s campus into the Headquarters of an evil genius mastermind. I never realised quite how much fun a pair of artists could have with a good vinyl cutter. It also nicely illustrates an arts organisation getting to grips with this social media malarkey:
Although I have been induced to create a Spy Steps Facebook group I have yet to work out how to post the MP3 there for download, which is humiliating and has also prevented me promoting the group to ‘all’ my ‘friends’ (are all my ‘friends’ Electric? let’s hope not).
Catch Spy Steps before it ends this Friday 26th June.
